Bella Hadid recently did a photo-shoot for ‘Vogue’. She is going to be on the cover of the magazine’s April 2022 edition. At that time she sat for an interview, where she talked about her teen years, her health issues, the struggles she faced going up and a few things she regrets along the way.
The supermodel gave the interview on March 15, 2022 and she confessed that among the things she regrets is a nose job she got done when she was 14 years old. “I wish I had kept the nose of my ancestors. I think I would have grown into it,” she said. She also told Vogue that there are rumours that she has got more work done on her face like eye-lifts, jaw-shaving or getting her lips filled and she insisted that none of those rumours are true.
Bella elaborated by saying, “People think I fully f***ed with my face because of one picture of me as a teenager looking puffy… I have never used filler. Let’s just put an end to that. I have no issue with it, but it’s not for me. Whoever thinks I’ve gotten my eyes lifted or whatever it’s called — it’s face tape! The oldest trick in the book.”
She also spoke about “impostor syndrome” where she felt like those around her were constantly making her feel like she didn’t deserve all that she has. She reiterated that people will always have something to say about her but she says that she has always been misunderstood in the fashion industry as well as by the people around her.
Bella, like her sister Gigi Hadid has pro-Palestinian beliefs and she talked about the Ukraine crisis while saying that she will do her bit to support people who have been affected.
She also revealed how she felt when she started working, her health issues and struggles during her early working years.
She said, “For three years while I was working, I would wake up every morning hysterical, in tears, alone. I wouldn’t show anybody that. I would go to work, cry at lunch in my little greenroom, finish my day, go to whatever random little hotel I was in for the night, cry again, wake up in the morning, and do the same thing,”
Bella said that over the years she got better at putting on a strong and smiling face and in seven years she can proudly say that she never missed a job, cancelled a shoot or was even late to work. She said, no one can ever say that she didn’t work her ass off.
Bella also addressed her Lyme’s disease and other health issues that cropped up when she was in high school. She said she recalls how in the 8th grade she used to have “a mix of physical and psychiatric symptoms, including brain fog, anxiety, exhaustion, poor focus, headaches, bone pain, and crying spells”. To top this, when she was 20 years old, she was diagnosed with ‘hypothyroidism’ for which she had to start hormone replacement and confessed that she experiences ‘adrenal fatigue’.
Bella Hadid said that even with all her insecurities, depression, anxiety, body image and eating issues, she has persevered and managed to function well.
