The New York City skyline has always been considered impressive. It is filled with amazing skyscrapers and now there has been a new addition to the lineup of sleek elegant skyscrapers in the New City skyline.

Touted as the world’s skinniest skyscraper, the Steinway Tower joins the skyline of New York.

The tower is now ready and open for residents to move in. As per reports the Steinway Tower, 111, West 57th Street, boasts of a 24:1 height-to-width ratio and it stands around 1,428 feet tall. This makes it the third highest building of the western hemisphere.

The other two buildings taller than Steinway Tower are NYC: World Trade Center (1,776 feet) and Central Park Tower (1,550 feet).

This tower is located on Billionaire’s Row in Midtown Manhattan and it overlooks the stunning Central Park. There are around 60 apartments in the 84 floors of the building. Since the building is in Manhattan the prices of the houses are a whopper with a studio apartment selling at $7.5 million and the penthouses going for $66 million.

The building has been designed by SHoP Architects, a New York based architecture firm who made the plan for the construction of this tower way back in 2013.

Greg Pasquarelli of SHoP Architects spoke to CNN about the building and said, “The building is a project of extraordinary proportions and epic grandeur.”

He added, “Any preconceived notions that our team had about skyscrapers of New York City developments were replaced with an opportunity to do something that had never been done before.”

The tower is said to have been designed taking inspiration from “the golden age of Manhattan skyscraper” as well as New York’s famous art deco history. The tower features terracotta tiles and has brown accents.
