‘Power Star’ Rajkumar as he was called lovingly in Karnataka, Kannada superstar Puneeth Rajkumar gave millions of his fans a shocker when he suddenly passed away because of a heart attack on October 29,2021. He was just 46 years old.
Today, on March 17, on the occasion of his 47th birth anniversary, the last film he worked on before his untimely demise, ‘James’ released to full houses across Karnataka.
The makers of this movie, writer and director, Chethan Kumar and producer Kishore Pathikonda decided that Puneeth’s birthday would be the right date to release the movie. In the Sandalwood industry (Kannada film industry) Puneeth was considered one of the top stars and he had a massive fan base.
Twitter was abuzz with reactions of his fans. It was an emotional moment for many who watched the movie first day to savour the joy of watching their favorite actor on the big screen for the last time.
Though the movie was not complete before Puneeth’s demise, he had completed his portion of the shoot, so the makers were able to finish the movie in time to release for March 17.
The movie stars Puneeth Rajkumar along with Priya Anand in the lead and it also had special appearances by Puneeth’s brothers Raghavendra Kumar and Shivarajakumar.
Earlier Telugu star Prabhas had said that ‘James’ would be a masterpiece. On his Instagram, last month, Prabhas shared a poster of the movie and wrote, “I’m sure we are about to witness a masterpiece in the form of #James. The film will always be special to the millions of us who admire the Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar Sir. We miss you!”
His heartfelt words were echoed by many of his fans who will be watching ‘James’ in theaters choked with overwhelming emotions about losing one of their favorite stars who has ‘gone too soon’!
