Randeep Hooda is one actor who is not afraid to push the envelope when it comes to preparing to get into his characters for the roles he plays in movies.
He shocked everyone by losing 18 kgs in 28 days to look like a malnourished prisoner in Sarabjit. He has also sported a different look and body language in other movies, like ‘Highway’, ‘Main Aur Charles’ and ‘Bombay Talkies’.
Now, he seems to be all set to make another transformation, that of an unsung freedom fighter instrumental in India’s fight for freedom from the British – Swatantra Veer Savarkar.
Producers Anand Pandit and Sandeep Singh have announced that Randeep will be the lead in their next film ‘Swatantra Veer Savarkar’.
This movie also marks the reunion of Randeep Hooda and Sandeep Singh, as the duo worked together in the critically acclaimed film ‘Sarabjit’.
Randeep will be essaying the titular role of the controversial freedom fighter in India’s independence – Vinayak Damodar Savarkar.
The movie is expected to go on the floors sometime around June this year and the shoot schedule will include locations in Maharashtra, London and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The movie will be directed by ace director Mahesh Manjrekar. Talking about the movie, Sandeep Singh said, “There are very few actors in India who can create magic with his talent, and Randeep is one amongst them. Considering Veer Savarkar as one of the most controversial characters in Indian history, I could only think of Randeep. Veer Savarkar’s contribution cannot be ignored, I wonder why our history books never mentioned Veer Savarkar?”
Producer Anand Pandit also added that with films like ‘Swatantra Veer Savarkar’ there can be more engaging public dialogs and with Mahesh Manjrekar directing and Randeep Hooda acting in this one, he feels the movie will be a memorable experience for the audience.
